Don't know if any of you saw this:

I just noticed an interesting tweet from YVR:
Film productions leaving in 2010 or have left BC for better tax credits: Vampire Diaries, Supernatural, Percy Jackson, Fringe, Twilight BD.”

I think YVR’s tweet is a bit premature and not totally accurate. Percy Jackson for instance did not leave for better tax breaks, in fact it did film here and wrapped a few months ago. Summit has not made any announcement on BD but it seems likely they will be back in Vancouver.
Supernatural and Smallville do appear to be leaving though.

Not in that forum beefore, but a few weeks back someone tried to start a rumour in another forum ( I *think* TWoP, but I could be wrong) that Smallville and Supernatural were moving out of BC and to Ontario, due to not getting the tax breaks.

I am guessing this person didn't actually do the research that here, in Onatrio, we stopped giving the foreign tax breaks about 10 years ago. Which is what killed our own, previously vibrant, film industry

Maybe they'll relocate in Hawaii and that will motivate everyone to make a Season 6 that as far as I know we still don't have.
So whatever happens happens I guess.

If Smallville is leaving, I wonder if they'll go out in a bang and make their whole Metropolis set burn down... Hehe. That would something I'd watch. :P

As for Fringe, the poor folks are getting moved every year. LOL. They're used to it.

Season six: Dean and Sam get stranded on an Island no-one can find with no guns and 6 numbers. How can they escape?! How did they get there in the first place?! ...All will be revealed....or will it?

LOL.
cest_dangereux on December 2nd, 2009 02:33 am (UTC)
I really hope this isn't true. SPN being filmed here is one of the best parts of living in Vancouver.
racheltastismracheltastism on December 2nd, 2009 05:41 am (UTC)
I completely agree. There's something exciting about knowing that at any given moment, they could be filming just around the corner :)
cest_dangereux on December 2nd, 2009 05:46 am (UTC)
Totally. They've filmed around my apartment this season and once I was out doing some recording for a school project and I happened by one of their locations by accident. As a result I have 5 minute audio file of J2 talking on my 722 recorder at school \m/
racheltastismracheltastism on December 2nd, 2009 05:48 am (UTC)
that's awesome!
they've filmed in my neighbourhood a few times, well reasonably close at least and i've stumbled upon them.
it's so cool to visit the set, i don't want them to move away.
if the series ends, that's a different story.
but it would suck to know that they're still filming but not anywhere that i could get to :(
cest_dangereux on December 2nd, 2009 05:54 am (UTC)
Indeed! I didn't even realize I was still recording at the time. I jumped up out of my chair when I played it back at school. My whole class was like o_o Jared is so gloriously huge IRL. You know it before you see him but when he's RIGHT THERE he pretty much envelopes your entire field of vision. It's great.

I completely agree, though I'll be pretty bummed if they stop now too. I graduate in June and I have a reeeally solid in at CMPP so there would be a high probability of working on season 6 if it were to come to pass. Fingers crossed!
racheltastismracheltastism on December 2nd, 2009 05:59 am (UTC)
I wasn't really fazed by Jared's height or sasquatch-esque frame, because my uncle is just as tall as are a few of my friends.
What I was stunned by is how ridiculously good looking the two of them are in person.
My GOD, it's unreal! They're disturbingly attractive.

Well, I'm of the belief that they should end after season five due to Kripke's five year plan and the fact that I don't think they can top the apocalypse. But hey! If I hear the news that season six will come to pass, I will most defs. keep my fingers crossed for you, so long as you keep your fingers crossed for me because I will soon be getting my headshots etc. done and would love an acting gig on the show!
cest_dangereux on December 2nd, 2009 06:17 am (UTC)
Yeah, my dad's 6'6" so I'm pretty used to tall folk (I'm 6'0" myself) but somehow when I saw him in real life it just blew me away, but a lot of that is probably the "he's sooooo good looking and he goes on forever" factor. Jensen looked like SERIOUS BUSINESS was afoot.

I'm torn, it would be a rad note to go out on but NEEDS MOAR SPN.

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you too! Here's a tip; keep your eyes open for Coreen Mayrs, Heike Brandstatter and L.A. Hilts on casting calls. You're more likely to see L.A. (extras) but if the call spec lists Coreen or Heike GET ON THAT SHIT because that's honest to god casting going on. Dialogue, y'all. Speakin' roles. Just a heads up.
racheltastismracheltastism on December 2nd, 2009 06:44 am (UTC)
Haha I like the way you phrased that. (>.<)

I know, I'd be terribly sad without it :'( but I just don't want it to drag out and disappoint me. I want it to end before I lose interest.

Thanks for the tip! I've been on the show twice now as an extra, once last season and once in an upcoming episode after the break. Look for me passing between Jared and the two guest stars when they're on a staircase and talking about locker numbers ^_^
cest_dangereux on December 2nd, 2009 06:47 am (UTC)
Sweet, will do! A friend of mine has tried to talk me into extra work but I'd be way too nervous. It's much easier for me to be on the other side of the camera taping tiny microphones to people's unmentionables.
racheltastismracheltastism on December 2nd, 2009 06:50 am (UTC)
I get nervous every time I do extra work, especially since this one time I made a really stupid mistake and ended up crying about it afterwards because I was so embarrassed D:
That sounds like a very interesting (and... fun? O.o) job haha!
cest_dangereux on December 2nd, 2009 06:56 am (UTC)
Aw, that sucks. I've had a few days like that too. I love doing location sound and some post production stuff is pretty cool but oooooh do I hate some parts of audio. There are some things we have to study just because it's relevant to sound in general but so help me god, I will never touch a midi controller again. Sound really is pretty fun though, it just sucks to be so low on the totem pole when our work is pretty much essential.
racheltastismracheltastism on December 2nd, 2009 07:05 am (UTC)
Yeah... it was awful. And I'm terrified of making another mistake again, and God forbid it be on Supernatural! Ah!
Talk about low on the totem pole, extras are (often) treated like crap. :(
cest_dangereux on December 2nd, 2009 07:08 am (UTC)
Haha no kidding. Sound people get treated alright, it's just that no one seems to really understand what we do. Producers and directors generally don't realize how much time and work goes into good sound so they tend to sacrifice a lot of our budget in favour of the visual departments. Not always, but often.
racheltastismracheltastism on December 2nd, 2009 07:10 am (UTC)
Well that's annoying :(
I learned a bit about sound during a week intensive at Vancouver Film School, and it seems like a lot of work goes into it and by golly is it important to the final product!
cest_dangereux on December 2nd, 2009 07:11 am (UTC)
That's where I study sound. It's a hellish nightmare, but I love certain parts of it enough that I just have to grit my teeth and stick through it. When did you do intensive?
racheltastismracheltastism on December 2nd, 2009 07:13 am (UTC)
During the summer, it was an acting intensive and I learned so much. Such a great experience! Though... I don't think I can possibly afford to go their for the full time program.
cest_dangereux on December 2nd, 2009 07:17 am (UTC)
Yeah, it's an expensive school in an expensive city. I hauled ass from Alberta for VFS and man, am I homesick. It's wet, it smells like sea sewage and you can't get good beef without paying out the ass for it. I'll take dry weather, cow shit smell and world class beef at lowlow prices any day of the week but the industry is better out here. Oh, and the booze is too expensive. Here's to hoping it was worth it.
racheltastismracheltastism on December 2nd, 2009 07:20 am (UTC)
I've lived her my whole life and despite the rain and horrible traffic and driving conditions and many other draw backs, I actually really love it here :)
cest_dangereux on December 2nd, 2009 07:24 am (UTC)
I think it's just weird culture shock for me, plus being cut off from my parents and cat and friends. Sometimes I think it's great here, other times I miss the prairies like bleeding. I'm surprised by how many trendy d-bags who seem to be under the impression that all Albertans are rednecks. It's crazy how prevalent the cultural divide can be.
racheltastismracheltastism on December 2nd, 2009 07:36 am (UTC)
oh yeah, Vancouver's certainly full of hipster douche nozzles haha
You'll get used to it ;)
cest_dangereux on December 2nd, 2009 07:46 am (UTC)
Haha I guess I'll have to.
deangirl1: facepalmdeangirl1 on December 2nd, 2009 06:17 pm (UTC)
Apparently this is an unfounded rumour....
I'm wondering if it has anything to do with the Olympics? Maybe they are shutting down for those weeks or going elsewhere?

They always talk about what a great "family" the show has so it would be really sad if they ditched all those people... I always thought they'd fight for them..

The move to Ontario thing has been a rumour circulating for a while too. I heard late summer that Stargate was moving to Ontario.... no move there unless I'm completely out of the loop...

Fringe moved to Vancouver because Josh Jackson basically insisted -- can't see them moving....
victoriatimeblind on December 2nd, 2009 07:33 pm (UTC)
Well, I hope they don't relocate to a sunny place... that's what really killed the X-Files. It lost its creepy factor... dunno what that says about Vancouver... O_o
